We started our on-line shop in 1998 receiving our first electronic orders in January 1999. Since then we've expanded from just railway titles to most forms of transport and are increasing our range every week.
The people behind the shop front are John Kappler, proprietor, and Peter Huckle, webmaster. We are both experienced computer professionals with a general interest in all forms of transport. John has a passion for travelling by train and Peter has the same feelings about flying.
The on-line shop is designed to make it easy for you to find titles on the subjects that interest you; and the database is structured to provide as much information about each title as we can pack in, including images and media clips.
You can browse through a library of Book, Video and CD titles and select items for purchase using an electronic "Shopping Cart" which processes the order when you reach the checkout. Just as in a supermarket, no sales are processed until the checkout is reached and you confirm your transaction with payment details. You can view the contents of your shopping basket at any time.
We're conscious of the scare stories that go round about buying on the Internet and our order processing is designed so that credit card details are not retained on the website, and the e-mail order is encrypted as soon as you submit it. If you still feel unhappy about sending your credit card details over the Internet, you can just send the order and follow it with your credit card details by fax, mail or telephone. Or, you can print out the order and send it by fax or post to Transport Diversions at the address below.
Over 4,000 titles are available now with more being added on a regular basis. Among the titles there are maps and atlases, modern and heritage videos and transport books by many specialist publishers. UK subjects feature extensively, with selected European and world-wide subjects. We want this to be a one-stop-shop where you can browse among titles from a wide selection of publishers and find just what you are looking for. We have tried to make it easy for you to find the title you need.
For our service details please go to our Terms & Conditions page.
If you don't see what you need, just let us know and we will endeavour to get it for you. If you would like to be on our mailing list, please let us have your e-mail address - we can then send you information as new titles become available.
Service
We will try to give you the best service - supplying you with what you have ordered on time and in good condition. If for any reason we should fail to live up to your expectations do please let us know - we want you to enjoy the books, videos, CDs or other items that you buy from us.
Communication
If your order has a 'from' e-mail address we will acknowledge your order and notify you when shipment is made (On the many orders we ship the same day, this is the same message!).
Availability
Our catalogue is expanding all the time, and occasionally supply of some items might be limited. We will do all we can to reflect the supply situation in the information we provide.
Post and Packing
Post and packing is calculated on the total order value on the order form. This can be examined either at the View Basket page or at the Checkout.
Credit Card Processing
Credit card details are transmitted across the Internet in a fully (128 bit) encrypted form at all times (you will see the small padlock symbol displayed by your browser when filling in your credit card details).
We will not debit your credit card until an order is dispatched.
Returns
If the product you have bought from us is faulty or damaged please return it to us for a replacement or refund. We will refund your postage costs to return the item.
We want you to be happy with your purchase, so if you decide to return an item to us we will refund the purchase cost (but not postage). Please note that Videos, DVDs and CDs are non-returnable unless faulty when a replacement will be issued.
Payment from Outside the UK
Payment may be made by cheque or credit card. If you are paying by cheque from outside the UK, we must receive a bank draft or money order in sterling drawn on a UK bank, payable to Transport Diversions.
Data Protection
Order and Customer details will be retained on our database for processing purposes only in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act. If you do not wish to receive further information on transport publications, please check the box on the order form before sending it to us.
