| | The area surrounding Newbury saw a revolution in road transport over the years between the early 1900's and then 1930's, leading to the formation of Newbury & district Motor services Ltd. in 1932. This story not only follows the origins and development of “N&D”, but looks more deeply into the various other operators that either joined its ranks or could be found providing other services within the area. It also fully explores the background of those involved and the social effects of a revolution that brought public transport to all but the most remote of settlements in a wide area of west Berkshire, along with neighbouring areas of Hampshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
