The follow-up to our popular Route 66 programme begins where the first left off and details the many changes to the British-based Class 66 fleet since we made the original. New operators have come and gone, locos have come and gone. In fact, the second journey along Route 66 is perhaps even more fascinating than the first. Highlights include: DB Schenker: The latest locos to have moved to Europe, current work on the British system, the first 66 to be branded in DB livery, and the unfortunate James. Fastline: A brief but interesting interlude as five locos arrived to work a dedicated coal flow. It all came to a crashing halt in March 2010 when the parent company went into administration, but we've captured the popular 66/3s in their daily work. DRS: New locos came in, old ones were sent back to the leasing company, traffic was lost and new flows gained. Plus the repainted 66412 in Malcolm livery and DRS's version of James. GBRF: The only operator not to have given up any locos. In fact, five of the former DRS stable have been added to the dark blue fleet. A full selection of the highly-varied freight portfolio. Advenza: A brief flirtation with rail freight and 66s when the new company took on former DRS machines for a new flyash flow. Only months after taking on 66s, another company went bust. Freightliner: The first company to try something different - Class 70s - has created a surplus of 66s for itself. Some have moved overseas, some are in store. Lots of action from the green & yellow team's diverse operations. Colas: The latest to take on 66s is using the former Advenza locos. Steel, logs and flyash feature in the flows review. An informative script and individual company graphics complement the action and give a full picture of the latest twists and turns along Route 66. Written & Narrated by David Maxey
