| | The Carriage and Wagon works were established at Saltney in 1853 at the time of the amalgamation of the Shrewsbury & Chester and Shrewsbury & Birmingham railways, and remained in use until work was transferred to Swindon in 1932. Some of the buildings remained in use for various purposes and one, the carriage shop, remains in use today. This book begins with a history of the town and the works and then looks at the rolling stock built there. It then goes on to look at the lives of the senior staff and some other personalities.
