Coorlea Publishing produced their first DMU Disposal in 1987. The first edition was further updated and the information included in the 1988 publication DMU & EMU Disposal. In 1995 the author worked with Metro Enterprises to produce their DMU Lexicon. Now, as the first generation of DMUs almost certainly enter their final year of activity with the TOCs on the mainline, an updated and expanded DMU Disposal has been produced, the first volume in a planned new series by Coorlea Publishing covering all multiple units. This volume covers not only the first generation units but also their replacements, along with pioneer units including APT and HST prototype sets, and Diesel Electric Multiple Units. For each vehicle is given its running number and, where appropriate, any previous number, date to traffic, date of withdrawal and finally either disposal details, renumbering with dates or preservation details. The latter are listed at their respective sites not by ownership. Information concerning the actual dates of movement of vehicles in preservation tends to be rather scant and any additional information would be appreciated. In addition to the preservation listing, for ease of reference, units in departmental service and first generation units still owned by Angel Train Contracts are also listed separately.
