| | When I wrote the initial guide in 1999 I had no idea that within a few years I would be compiling a third edition. Although trams, by their very nature, run on rails firmly fixed to the ground there has been an enormous amount of change in the last few years. The Third edition records all the changes that have taken place since the publication of the previous edition and gives the current situation. The format and style of the guide remains very much the same. At the request of many readers the information has been extended to include four additional features. A map of the British Isles indicates where each tramway/funicular museum is, and the nearest other listed attractions to each entry are now given. These are to help those visiting different parts of the country to identify the nearest tram interest when visiting a locality. The gauge of the tramway/funicular has been identified more clearly. Finally a new section has been added to give details on private funiculars that can be seen from public areas. Contents:
