| | The former Great Central Railway Main Line from Sheffield Victoria to London Marylebone closed to through traffic 30 years ago on the 3rd of September 1966. The glorious sights and sounds in this video show some of the numerous lines and intensive traffic flows that are no more. After looking at the Electric Services through Oughtibridge and at Victoria and the scenes in Wards Scrap Yards at Woodhouse and Beighton, we leave on a Special Train travelling via Langwith Jc and the Great Northern Line to Nottingham Victoria. Traffic at Victoria is handled by B1s, 04s, 8Fs, 9Fs, CI5s, etc. Joining another train from Sheffield, we travel round the Chesterfield Loop to Heath Jc and run to Nottingham Victoria via Annesley, Linby and Bulwell. Plenty of traffic is on view as coal was still being worked over Woodhead and iron ore was being moved to Sheffield. A later volume will cover the Last Day's traffic and the line Southwards from Nottingham Victoria to London Marylebone. The sights and sounds in this video were recorded between 1962 and 1966.
