Author Brian Thackray has already given us the first volume of his monumental undertaking of presenting the complete history of the Associated Equipment Company, of Southall, whose buses and trucks were such a feature of Britain's and the world's roads in the twentieth century. In The AEC Story Part One, he dealt with the documentation of the company from its origins to 1933. That story is to be completed in due course in The AEC Story Part Two. In the meantime, Brian turns his attention to the vehicles produced under the AEC emblem in a parallel series entitled AEC Vehicles. The first volume in this strand of the story is subtitled Origins to 1929. It deals with all the models produced from the X type of 1909 to the AEC Reliance of 1929, the latter coinciding with the arrival at Southall of the great G J Rackham as AEC's Chief Engineer. Lavishly illustrated, not only with quality photographs, but also with drawings and blueprints, this is and will remain the definitive work of reference on the vehicles of AEC.
