| | Dorset is one of the smallest counties in England, but what it lacks in size is more than compensated for by its innumerable attributes, not least its outstanding coastline, unspoilt landscape and dozens of picturesque villages. The county's railway system was hardly the most complex or busiest in the South of England, but this was balanced by the considerable variety of routes, ranging from the Waterloo to West-of-England main line to the delightful Swanage branch. Weymouth, perhaps the county's largest railway centre, at one time boasted main line services to both London Paddington and Waterloo. The famous Somerset & Dorset line, which had immense character, seemed to be almost every railway enthusiast's favourite. Using the best available images, this album vividly brings to life the beauty and charm of Dorset's railways during the final decade or so of steam operation. Contents:
