We start our exploration by entering Luxembourg across the Mosel at Wasserbillig on board a DB DMU heading for Luxembourg City. The network may be small - actually much smaller than the network that serves the quays at Antwerp dock - but its full of international interest. You will see trains from the SNCF, DB, NMBS / SNCB and naturally the CFL itself. We spend time at Luxembourg City and Bettembourg, where we see Dispoloks at work. We discuss the future for freight in the Principality after the completion of the Athus chord. Still at work on the network are the Class 3600 flat irons but for how much longer? We capture them on film, it may be your last opportunity to enjoy them! Heading north we follow the newly electrified (at 25kv) line to Liege and see the dual voltage Class 3000 at work. In the depths of the Ardennes we also have the opportunity to watch timber being loaded to rail; big business for B-Cargo! On the mainline north - through Arlon - theres lots of action, and classic haulage through the forest before we reach Namur. We make a detour to the Dinant line to watch stone being loaded and help the shunter with his tiny rail tractor. At Huy we watch trains along the banks of the Meuse and then through Charleroi to Mons where we conclude our journey with a look at the 2001 rail fair. The film is fully narrated by Phyllis Watts, and is illustrated with graphics throughout. No Contents Listing Published, See Description Continent: Europe Country: Belgium |
