| | Archive film coverage of the area WREXHAM to CHESTER taken from 1962 to 1967. There is detailed coverage of the line to BRYMBO and MINERA which was steeply graded as far as the steelworks. This was worked by 8F and 9F Classes with lighter trains in the hands of ex-GWR tank engines of Pannier and 5600 Classes. The single line with eight level crossings to the MINERA limestone quarries was worked by pannier and Standard Class 4 moguls. Enthusiast excursions in 1966 and 1967 brought passenger stock to the line to Brymbo. CROES NEWYDD shed is also visited. The Wrexham to Chester main line also included a steep gradient at GRESFORD and this is seen with service trains and the railtours of 1966 and 1967. SALTNEY JUNCTION had great variety in 1962 with ex-LMS express power on the North Wales route and ex-GWR Castles and Halls on the line south to Shrewsbury. Freight is also included. After the Roodee viaduct the film covers CHESTER station. The line south of Chester is now single. This film was taken in its busy double track days. This video is nearly all colour and has an informative commentary and authentic sound track thereby achieving the best out of the original all archive film.
