| VHS Cassette (also available as DVD-R Video). It has taken twelve years to find and restore the rare archive film necessary to make this remarkable production of “A Hundred years of P&O”. Made in two 59-min parts as episodes 16 & 17 in the great liners series. Founded in 1837, many books have been written chronicling the history of this great Company. But never before has there been a moving image record to show us just what it was like to have worked and sailed aboard P&O passenger liners and cargo ships from the turn of the last century right through to modern times. Using only unique, rare archive film, most of which has never been seen before. We magically step back in time to the turn of the last century and to the glory days of British merchant shipping. With the aid of modern production techniques we have managed to recreate just what it was like to have sailed aboard such magnificently famous ships as the Mooltan – Moloja – Mongolia – Ranpura – Malda – Viceroy of India – Ormonde – Orion – Corfu – Canton – Strathmore – Orcades - Chusan and Surat, as well as a host of other ships we encounter whilst looking at such famous ports as London, Tibury, Southampton, Bombay, Sydney and a Suez canal full of ships during the heyday of merchant shipping. These ships carried cargo and millions of passengers to every far corner of the world – to emigrate, to romance, to exotic destinations and to war. Many were lost by enemy action, and thousands of crewmembers laid down their lives for their country. Whether you are one of the many families through out the world that had at least one relative who sailed aboard or worked with these great ships, or you just simply like ships, this is a truly remarkable video.
