The former L.N.E.R. network retained a remarkable selection of Grouping and Pre-Grouping steam power well into the 1960's on freight and mixed traffic duties. In this programme we document designs from the days of the North Eastern, North British, Great Eastern, L.N.E.R. and British Railways using rare Colour and Black and White film from Scotland, the North East and East Anglia. The Programme Comprises the following Classes:- E4 - with rare film from the Mildenhall Branch. J15 - veteran Great Eastern 0-6-0's are featured in East Anglia. J27 - veteran North Eastern survivors are illustrated at work in the North East around Sunderland and North Blyth. J36 - The oldest of the former North British Railways 0-6-0s are shown in Scotland in the last years of steam. J37 - A design introduced by the North British Railway, with scenes around Dundee and Montrose. J38 - A Gresley design, with film from Alloa in Scotland. J39 - An L.N.E.R. design, with rare scenes in East Anglia and Leeds. J72 - A diminuative tank with film from Newcastle on pilot duties. J94 - This Austerity design is featured on the Cromford and High Peak Railway, and in the North East. Kl - Peppercorns 2-6-0s are shown at work in Scotland and the North East on passenger and freight. K3 - Passenger haulage in East Anglia in 1960 K4 - With scenes in Scotland, plus'The Great Marquess' in the 1960's. Ol-O2-O4 - The Easterns 2-8-0 freight designs are featured hard at work in the 1960's on the Great Central, and around Retford. Q6 - North Eastern 0-8-0s in the North East on mineral traffic. V3 - Gresleys handsome 2-6-2 tanks are featured in the North East North Eastern Memories - Recollections from the 1960's with film from North Blyth, Sunderland and the colliery lines. Scottish Memories - with scenes from the Brechin Branch and around Dundee. Preservation - Including a Kl, K4, J27 and a J36 in Scotland, and on the North York Moors Railway.
