| | Bournville is world-renowned both for chocolate from Cadbury's factory and a great social experiment that was to revolutionise the type of housing built for 'working class' people. What is little known, is the part that the siting of the railway and little station played in this story. Without these two, it is very unlikely that any of these developments would have taken place. The railways were central to the rapid transport of raw materials and finished products. Any plans for a factory at a given location would depend on the proximity of suitable railway connections.
