Welcome to the October 2007 Edition of the
Newsletter from Transport Diversions
At Last!
We're back!
Sincere apologies to all of you who've wondered where we'd gone. It seems the
hosts of our server decided our website was too busy (!!!) and pulled the plug
on our site! No warning, no notification one minute it's up and the next its
gone! Of course this had to coincide with our Webmaster doing his annual
migration south so it was a couple of days before we could find out exactly
what had happened. As no amount of pleading would get our hosting service to
change their minds we've been forced to go elsewhere.
We decided to go
with our own dedicated server this time, so it has taken a little while to
build all the necessary support services (what we really mean is figure out how
to do it!). But we are back now, our server totally under our control, and
seems to be performing far better than the old one. I'm sure that there will still be a few glitches in the system so please let Peter know if you come across anything that isn't working as it should.
We have of course
been shipping orders that we had before the site went down!
Security
Certificate:
At the moment,
when you go to our Checkout, your browser MAY give you a security warning. This
is because on a website, when you go to secure pages such as our checkout, your
browser will check the security certificate of the pages. Simply put, there are
two types of security certificate: Public and Private. Public ones are held in
a register and your browser can check against them. Private ones are held by
the owner, in this case Transport Diversions, and you can proceed past that
warning and the pages WILL still be secure.
This is only a
temporary situation, whilst we obtain a public certificate. In fact, you can
register our Private certificate with your browser and the warning will not the
recur (if you'd like to know how to do that, we have a simple process for
Internet Explorer 7 that we can let you have e-mail to postman@transportdiversions.com).
Contact:
We regret that
over the last few days delivery of e-mails has been impacted by the server
changes. If you've e-mailed us and we haven't replied, please forgive us we
probably haven't received it. E-mails are now getting delivered.
Title News:
The beginning of
the month newsletter is where we recap all the information and changes for the
last month, so a lengthier list than the mid-month newsletters.
New titles
this month total thirty-five, plus there are many further titles that are
either new
to us or are expected
soon
Calendars:
CALENDARS: All the regular 2008 calendars
are now in stock. As last year we would recommend that if you don't want to be
disappointed, order earlier rather than later.
